Nav/Com and DP maintenance courses

Beier Radio developed its Nav/Com and DP maintenance courses to support customers whose equipment may require attention when their vessels are in foreign or remote ports. After completing training at Beier’s Training School, mariners will be able to identify any equipment problems, connect to Beier Radio’s Remote Diagnostic Program if necessary, perform basic maintenance and repairs, and ultimately get the equipment and vessel back up and running safely and quickly.

• Troubleshooting and Maintenance Program for: Nav/Com, vessel monitoring systems, steering systems and engine controls

DP Training

The Marine Training Institute is proud to offer mariners hands-on DP training using the world-class Beier IVCS 4000 Dynamic Positioning System in Gray, Louisiana, USA.

The Marine Training Institute is accredited by The Nautical Institute in London for its standard of excellence in the training of maritime personnel in principles and practices of operating a DP system in a working environment.

The facility uses fully computerized training simulators to allow the student to have the most realistic experience possible. Each student workstation includes the Beier IVCS 4000, our ABS Approved DP-2 integrated vessel control system.

ECDIS Certification

ECDIS certification training is also available at the Marine Training Institute. This course is a 40-hour course on the operational use of ECDIS that meets the demonstrated competencies to maintain safe navigation using ECDIS as required in Table A-II/1 of the STCW Code along with the use of ECDIS and associated navigation positioning systems as required in Table A-II/2 of the STCW. The course will follow all guidelines for training and assessments in the operational use of ECDIS as described in Table B-I/12, paragraphs 36-66 in STCW. This course satisfies all current USCG requirements for approved ECDIS training at operational and management levels for all vessels having ECDIS.
